DESCRIPTION
ABSTRACT
For my EDGE Project I read Full Catastrophe Living and Mindfulness for Beginners: Reclaiming the Present Moment―and Your Life by Jon Kabat-Zinn and annotated and wrote my thoughts I had while reading about mindfulness. I also meditated and put into practice the things I learned from Kabat-Zinn. I wrote in a journal to keep record of my thoughts and feelings and insights I gained through meditation.

GOALS

My purpose in choosing to learn about stress and participate in mindfulness was to better prepare myself for graduate school. The knowledge I learned throughout this process, will make me a better candidate for graduate school and I will be better-rounded as a psychologist. I will be better equipped with the tools to help those who not only have stress and anxiety problems but those who just want a higher quality of life. I also accomplished a goal I’ve had at being better at managing my own stress in a more efficient way rather than using negative coping strategies.

OBJECTIVES

I wanted to grow as a person from learning about and participating in mindfulness. By obtaining more knowledge about mindfulness, stress, and my own body I was able to overcome daily stress.

I wanted to feel more prepared for graduate work especially work that deals with stress or anxiety. This will benefit me because I will be equipped to help others.
